the neverending quilt

I think Bonnie has tricked us all into working on the quilt without end.  All those finished versions you see on people's blogs, that a lie, they are all in this together, its their way of taking over the world!!!!

:)

Can you tell I haven't made much progress on my Orca Bay?  I think I could have walked to Orca Bay by now but I still don't see this quilt ever getting finished.

almost 3 hours on it today and nothing worth even taking a picture of to show progress...

Orca Bay Progress

After almost 3 hours today, this is my progress on Orca Bay.  So much still to do...I did use some of my lovely red scraps for the centers because I did not have enough until this box arrived.

I did spend about an hour on this quilt today also.  That mess next to the blocks are the edges of the block.  I have really scrounged for scraps for these blocks and, I must confess, I did have to go purchase 3 quarter yard cuts.  I am still not sure if I will come up with enough.  I also have a new piece of white that will become the lattice.

I also finished a new center for my Cotton Robin that I will need to get in the mail ASAP.  I did not like the one I had made and some of the points would have ended up cut off.

Goals for tomorrow:
Laundry- it mutliplies really fast around here!
some more quilting
maybe organize the office- its a mess here!

White and Bright UFO

I decided I needed a fresh project to look at-NO, I DID NOT START A NEW QUILT!
This is the White and Bright UFO from the list.  Yesterday they were still just half triangle squares.  They were from a charm block quilt along that I never finished.
So, I grabbed them up and sewed them into pinwheels for this project...
I grabbed this up the other day just for the quilt on the cover.  LOVE IT!
So, after I trim the pinwheels, I will get started on the bar sides.  My pinwheels are larger than the ones in this pattern so I will be figuring out my own measurements.  I have even thought about doing squares rather than bars-not sure yet.

I picked up a set of trim up rulers (by Quilters Paradise)  yesterday and they are perfect-loving them- but now I need that spinning cutting mat so I don't have to walk around the table.

But then I was asking myself-Is it really necessary to trim when this is what the waste is???
Now, progress on Orca bay is at a near stand still...
I just can't seem to get step 3 going.  I am thinking about doing squares and sewing on each side of the line rather than cutting these tiny triangles.  Maybe that will get me moving.  I have to go figure out the measurements for that now.
I am dedicating this day to quilting and laundry so maybe I will make some progress.
Only 6 more days, after today, and I have to go back to work :(

Orca Bay progress

I was itching to work on Orca Bay today but black and white was not appealing to me so I started my red triangles.

See that lovely stack of scraps at the top, that is why I do not really like foundation piecing.  I always get my pieces too big and it wastes so much fabric!  I was being very careful, I thought, and still there are tons of scraps, too small to save. I saved a lot of tiny pieces too.  Thank goodness I have some red scraps on the way from SoScrappy!  :)

But, the triangles are GORGEOUS!  And, I know this is going to be a FABULOUS Quilt!

Also, Lizzie has had a major overhaul and is sewing beautifully again.  I was told there should be no more problems!  Now I can finish a few Christmas presents and give them to the recipients as New Year's Presents, which are just as nice.
My husband has to go back to work tomorrow and I only have another week off.  How on earth am I going to be able to finish like 100 quilts in that short of time???  Looks like I need to be making a plan and setting some goals for 2012...

Orca Bay Mystery With Bonnie Hunter

Two and a half hours into step one of the Orca Bay Mystery and this is all I have to show for it!!???
46 two and a half inch squares and probably enough halves to make 15 more squares.
I knew I was crazy to start another UFO!
I  LOVE Bonnie, but really, is she trying to kill us?  Is she in to torture???
I have only myself to blame because I knew better and yet, here I am, UFO # 30 (at least).
I will never have 224 of these by next Friday, no way possible, and that is with two days off before then.

Did I mention that the last mystery I tried of hers, Double Delight is still in hundreds of little pieces?  Oklahoma Backroads is too and I think I have some of Bonnie's Pineapple blocks started somewhere too.

Truthfully, Bonnie, I wish you all the best!  I hope you know what you have gotten us all into.

Happy stitching to all of you working on those 224 hourglass blocks!
