I started what I call a Chunky Strip Race this morning. Its with 3.5 inch strips rather than with 2.5 which would be a Jelly Roll Race.
Here are my colors. Its actually an experiment. I used twice as much orange as the other colors so I am hoping for a mostly orange & somewhat modern look.
After 2 hours, I only have it sewn into two rows. Not exactly a lightning speed race...
I started with about 8 yards of fabric so I am expecting a big quilt top that I can trim to the size I want and use the left over pieces on the back.
And here is a glimpse at the lovely weather outside my sewing room window. It was fun to look up from these bright colors to see big, fat flakes falling.
Earlier today, I sat down and made a list of some of the most pressing quilt projects that are started and I hope to get finished this year. I have come up with 28 so far without even looking through the mess in the sewing room.
Right now I think I will start some laundry and hop on the elliptical machine, since I am not being successful in following my Weight Watchers these past couple of weeks. Hope the motivation returns soon!

Jelly Roll Race Center complete
152 minutes total.
I don't have time to look into Mr. Linky tonight but I still plan on setting up a linky party. If there is anyone out there who wants to share their race centers, leave me a comment here, otherwise I may just skip it.
I haven't measured it yet to see how big it is but will do that soon so that I can plan the borders. I will make it for Quilts Of Valor. It now needs to be added to the UFO list.

300th Post Giveaway
Yeah, its my 300th post! So, I am going to have a small giveaway to celebrate! I just happen to have an extra copy of this book...
It has all sorts of wonderful designs from nickels, dimes, and quarters-scraps will work for many of them too! The only rule is you must be a follower, so, if you aren't, just become one and then leave a comment to let me know you are interested. I will draw a number on Friday Feb. 3rd. Thanks for following and sharing my projects.
And, just to update, here is what little bit I have been able to get to this weekend
,
I received my winnings from Barb, the drunkards path cut outs and a bunch of lovely appliques just waiting to be used-Thanks Barb!
Maybe by the time I get all theses blocks sewn together, I will have curves figured out...There is a great block in the latest 100 blocks magazine to use these in.
And, for those of you who caught my post about the jelly roll race, after 143 minutes, this is how far I am. I have 2 pieces about 100 inches long and 10 or so strips wide. I have included pressing and trimming the selvage from the ends in my time. Seems like I should be lots farther along. I thought people were saying you could get this done in an hour. Well, I am past 2 hours and still have a ways to go. But, I will have a lovely center for a Quilt of Valor when I do get done.
Wonder what has happened to my Orca Bay????
Don't forget to follow & comment for the giveaway. Hope you all have a lovely week!

Anyone up for a race?
Hey, is anyone up for a Jelly Roll Race as described here by Sara? I would love to give it a try. I am thinking that we can work on it sometime this week. Keep track of your EXACT amount of time and post it on your blog with a picture of your top. I will try to set up a Mr. Linky (don't have a clue how).
Rules-start with a jelly roll or 40- 2 1/2 inch X Width of Fabric strips (so cutting time is not included)
sew them all together end to end, cut it in half, sew those together, cut it in half, sew those together...etc, until you have a quilt top that will be lap(?) size.
Ready, set, sew...
