El Camino Real International Heritage Center

Here is a picture from the  El Camino Real Heritage Center.  We went yesterday as part of the history grant that I am working with.  It is basically in the middle of no where in New Mexico-south of Socorro.  For those of you who may not know, the El Camino Real is the trade route from Mexico City to Santa Fe and beyond, used during the 17th and 18th centuries.

The kids liked it and we had a good time but they were much more enthusiastic when we stopped off at the Hard Rock casino/hotel for ice cream and t-shirts.  My teenager especially enjoyed seeing the displays;  Gene Simmons' guitar shaped like an axe, Elton Johns leather Jacket with the British flag all over it, Clothes worn by various artists- she loves her rock and roll!

Not much sewing going on the last few days.  I have been receiving packages from the Block Lotto participants though- LOVELY pineapple blossom blocks!  I can't wait to get going on that quilt.  Planning a king size so I will be making many, many pineapple blossoms.
