In honor of Independence day I thought I would show you some pictures from Yorktown, where Cornwallis surrendered to Washington about 4 years after the Declaration of Independence, as well as a picture of General Washington on the streets of Williamsburg.

Surrender Field

Redoubt 9 at Yorktown- where the Revolutionary army received backup from the French.

General Washington and his escort in Williamsburg.

The two weeks I have spent in Virginia, studying American History have given me an incredible understanding of what our founding fathers did in order to create our country.  It is not something you can get from a history textbook.

Hope everyone has a happy and healthy Independence Day!
