Black and Tan

I started this quilt for my husband many years ago.  It is made from Bonnie Hunter's Mountain Majesty Pattern.  I was never very fond of it so it sat as a finished top for years.  I finally pulled it out to practice my free motion skills.

Hard to see but I am very happy with the background of very small flames.

And, these are feathers.  I used my flexible curve to make sure all the spines were the same.  It looks okay from the front but I really don't like the black thread on the brown backing.

This is a peek at a quilt my mom made.  I LOVE the "Crimson Rose" quilting pattern on it!

This Black and Tan quilt may be my only finish for March, we will see...and it still needs a label.

This quilt top was put together decades ago.  this quilt has a story that I will tell another time, after I get the binding on maybe...

I thought it would be good to pull it out for practicing my free motion feathers.  It is not the greatest and the top is definitely worse than the bottom, I got much better as I went along.  Still going to be awhile before I offer free motion feathers to my customers. 

Overall, it looks okay.

Here is the back.  It came out really nice with an on point grid of feathers with a digitized wreath in the center of each square.

Here is a better picture of my state fair challenge quilt.  I am happy with it but do not expect it to be in the running in any way.  Many amazing quilters in the challenge.  

This is a gorgeous customer quilt that I recently finished quilting.  I really enjoyed quilting it!

Hope everyone is having a great week of stitching.  I am about to start on a carrying bag for my ruler and cutting mat for the retreat that is fast approaching.  No pattern, I will be winging it!

Baby Clothes quilt...

Spoiler alert for Whitney- Go no further if you want the quilt to be a surprise!

I have been working on this baby clothes quilt for a while now and have finally had it on the quilting machine the last 3 days.  I have worked those days full and finally finished today!
There are tons of pictures.  Some of the quilting is free hand and some is by computer...





There are butterflies, and flowers,  and lots of curly cues.  Ducks and tulip rings and even some Hawaiian looking flowers. 

I won't bore you with more but there will be another photo shoot when I get the binding on in a few days. 
Off to fix dinner and then load another quilt on the frame.

Upcoming Class

Here is the quilt I am teaching in April at a local quilt shop "Quilts Ole"

It is constructed out of all "wonky" blocks, with as little measurement as possible.  It is a quilt I designed specifically for teaching the technique that I have learned through participation in www.BlockLotto.com and from seeing the technique in magazines and online other places.  So many people have asked me about this technique when viewing other quilts that I have made that I felt a class was in order. 
I custom quilted it on my long arm...

I love looking at the back with just the white fabric.

I hope you can see some of the free motion quilting.  It was a lot of fun to do and came out beautifully.  I did feathers in the border that I used my computer for but think they may have been better if I had done free motion.  Live and learn.
